Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve 2016

I’ve been enjoying myself so much today. I wrapped some gifts and made some tags for a few of the Christmas gifts. Thanks to the pinners on Pinterest for sharing great photos, which I saved on my Christmas board.

And of course I’ve been taking breaks. Oh, just for some nourishment, you might say.

Just to share a photo of my tree. It’s fairly sparse this year. I got such a late start. Just some red, gold and clear balls and the lights and topper.

Been taking care of hubby who has been sick since his surgery. Not because of the surgery. Because he has ulcers and I’ve had to totally change his diet because it seemed like everything I cooked was making his stomach hurt. I guess when you cook with butter a lot, and tomato products and, well, a lot of foods that upset ulcers, it’s been a different experience. Hubby hasn’t been sick in the 25 years we’ve been married. Now he has to take to bed a lot.

This is definitely been very difficult for him. He doesn’t like to ask for help but since the hernia and ulcers and anemia, he’s we’ve had to ask my sister and her husband and son for help to do some heavy work around here. Hubby isn’t supposed to lift more than 15 pounds for 2 months after that surgery. When you’re so used to just getting in there and doing whatever you need to without any thought about it, it’s hard to think about, how much does this weigh, before I lift, push or pull on something.

Back to Christmas. I have been watching a lot of Hallmark Christmas movies and Christmas DVD’s. This is the part I DO love. The TV has been on almost all day long. We’re going down to Mom’s tomorrow. It’s just an hour and a half away. She lives out in the country so it will be nice and quiet. My sister and her husband and son are going too. It’s going to be so much fun.

I know there is some dispute about celebrating Christmas. But I know why I am celebrating this season. I celebrate the birth of Jesus. I celebrate that my LORD left His home in heaven for that little bit of time to save me and restore my fellowship with God. It’s the most important thing that has EVER happened to me, for me. His love for me (for all of mankind) is so amazing. Wow, He left Heaven. And all that He suffered, for me.

I love Christmas because it’s a time to ponder the miracle birth of Jesus. Yes, when I was a kid it was about Santa and gifts, like most families did back in the 50’s and 60’s. Well, even now non-Christians celebrate Santa. Now, this season is much more meaningful because of Jesus.

Two of the movies I love to watch are Jacob’s Gift and The Nativity Story. I also watch A Grandpa for Christmas and Let It Snow and A Christmas Melody.

I sure wish it would snow, but the forecast is 73 for tomorrow.

Some Christmas links to share and I’ll wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
